by Alex Pascall,
Music: Alex Pascall and Deirdre Pascall

Red Pack: Includes Playscript and Musical’s Soundtrack (x 22 MP3 downloads)

An enjoyable read with family and friends that will release the inner you whether you are in government imposed locked down or just choose to let your mind travel. A read, where each play their chosen parts, Common Threads is a tale for everyone.

Alex, ever the Anansi, uses the wealth of his life experience honed over 50 years as a cultural griot and storyteller who traversed Britain, Ireland and Wales telling stories of our times and the past to youth, Teletubbies viewers and seniors alike. Though story and songs Alex and Deirdre spin a yarn that spans 3 generations of  a Welsh and a Caribbean family and their comrades, where the workers from thousands of miles apart, unite for one cause, justice.

The story begins in the 1950’s covering some true to life events of the times inclusive of workers strikes and progresses to the 21st century with talk of recyclable energies using sugar bi-products and internet cafe life where wizards morph into DJ’s to assist a love match between new generations born out of the old as fortunes go.

Helped by mythical characters from the Wizzie Wizzie Wizzie World of the Invisible’s, Os Mosis (the wizard)  and the lady of  matching magical powers  Mama Dlo who use web palms in the 1950’s, plot between countries the eventual demise of  of  the protagonist Mr Warner, the owner of  both Big Pit colliery and La Sagesse plantation. Told across 3 Acts, in English interwoven with elements of Welsh and the use of emoji’s. Alex’s first playscript, Common Threads toured across S. Wales in 2001 and was staged at Sadlers Wells Lilian Baylis Theatre in 2005.

A very refreshing experience, and beautifully presented in colour with a glossary of terms, Common Threads’s story with technological wizardry dates well before emoji’s became a popular form of international communication boasts a breathtaking selection of 22 MP3 track downloads of music reflecting both Caribbean and Welsh culture.
